Teacher Training

The Gen Y class license includes all the training, materials and support services necessary to make your Gen Y class a success. It includes full support for up to 30 students per class.

Gen Y teachers attend a training session given by veteran Gen Y teacher-educators. We encourage a few students and administrators to attend the training as well. This often helps establish buy-in and support for the program. The training covers the philosophy and practical knowledge needed to start and run a Gen Y class. It covers the curriculum and how to use the online support system to maximize the success of the program.

The Gen Y curriculum covers the technical skills necessary for the students to build technology projects. It also covers the collaboration skills, project management and planning and other "soft" skills necessary to complete the projects.

Curriculum Materials - Printed curriculum guide, CD-ROM, video and online materials

Curriculum guide- The printed curriculum guide is used by the teacher throughout the Gen Y class. This 238 page, sturdy ring-bound book is excellent for daily use and lays flat for copying. It is published by the International Society of Technology in Education (ISTE) and consists of:

• 5 chapters dealing with program issues, best practices, and guidelines for organizing the class to best suit the school environment. (details)

Infopages - (CD-ROM and online) 103 printable guides for the teachers and students to use throughout the course. These consist of class handouts, surveys, planner pages, quizzes, and student resources. All info pages are on the Gen Y CD-ROM and also available online. The online materials are only accessible to teachers and students enrolled in a licensed Gen Y class.

Best Practices/First Hand Experiences (Video) - The included video is excellent for both teachers and students to fully experience the enthusiasm of Gen Y participants. Also useful to show to parents, administrators and potential partner-teachers, the video serves as a testimonial of student and teacher experiences with Gen Y.

Online Support Tools

The Generation Y curriculum depends on a number of online tools that support the students, partner-teachers, and Gen Y teacher throughout the course. These tools are available through a password protected site accessible once you have licensed your Gen Y class.

After the class is registered, these tools are available to all of your students and teachers.
