Hi, Student X!
Welcome to Generation www.Y, and thanks for submitting your project proposal. I hope you are enjoying your time in class, and that you find that your project benefits you, Mr. Beck, and the students in his class.

I think you have chosen a unique project idea! I have a few suggestions which I hope you will find helpful. Some are concerning your technical writing, and others pertain to the broader scope of your project. Remember, whether or not you take any particular action based on what I suggest is entirely up to you and Mr. Beck.
First, your title is very creative! You might want to include some more information about your project, however, by using a subtitle. For example: "Strike a Pose: Digital Camera Use in the Classroom".

Your objectives are well done! They are clear and complete! Be sure that you remember to always capitalize the word "Internet".

Your materials section is off to a good start! Under "Other", be sure to include things like the scavenger hunt and assessment survey checklist. Also, since students will be using the Internet, you'll need an Internet connection and the Internet browser software (like Netscape or Explorer) on your list, too.

In your procedures section, I LOVE your ideas for integrating digital camera use! The scavenger hunt and story starter ideas are wonderful! It sounds very organized! My only suggestion is that you include a step at the end about assessing your project.

Your first two assessments are right on target! In the third assessment (for your partner teacher), think about how you will assess HIS learning. How will you measure whether or not he can use a digital camera and photo-finishing software in future projects with efficiency?

I think this is a challenging project idea, Sara! You must be an EXPERT on digital camera use! I am sure Mr. Beck will greatly appreciate all the hours of hard work you are putting into this project, which he will be able to use over and over again for years to come! Best of luck with your finished project!

- Mrs. Barrett

 Conventions

Strong
The writing demonstrates strong control of technical writing conventions (e.g., punctuation, spelling, capitalization, grammar and usage) and uses them effectively to enhance communication. Errors are so few and so minor that they do not impede readibility. The writing is characterized by:

• strong control of conventions
• effective use of punctuation that guides the reader through the text
• correct spelling, even of more difficult words
• correct capitalization; errors, if any, are minor
• correct grammar and usage that contributes to clarity and style
• little need for editing.

 Organization

Proficient
The primary theme of the project is adequately supported by the information provided in each section of the proposal form. All sections of the form are completed with sufficient detail and accuracy. The proposal is characterized by:

• Project objectives which are adequately addressed by the procedural steps
• EALRs (for WA State schools; otherwise, optional local standards) which adequately correspond to the objectives of the project
• Procedural steps which demonstrate some skill in task analysis
• Assessment strategies which generally address the original objectives for the project, though not necessarily individually.

 Ideas & Conventions

Strong
The proposal is clear, focused and interesting. A reader would have little trouble replicating the project from its written description. It demonstrates a clear understanding of the underlying principles of the Generation www.Y model. The successfully completed project will contribute to the enhanced use of technology in the school environment. The writing is characterized by:

• clarity, focus, and control
• clearly stated and appropriate objectives
• supporting, relevant, carefully selected details
• a thorough and balanced procedural description
• content that is well-suited to the audience and purpose (i.e., posting to the Gen www.Y Website).
