First, I'll teach the students manually, how to use a digital
camera. They will learn the basics, how to insert the disk, take
the picture, basically operating the camera. As a follow up project
the students will recieve a scavenger hunt, this will give them
practice with the camera so they become more comfortable when using
it. The hunt will include clues to where they will find certain
objects, then they'll have to take a picture of the objects on to
a floppy disk.
Secondly, I'll teach the students how to use photo-finishing software,
in this case we'll use Kai's Photo Soap. They'll learn the basics
of fixing, and enhancing digital photos. From the floppy disk they
saved their scavenger-hunt photos on, they'll lean to download their
pictures into the software. With these "practice photos"
they'll explore the different enhancement, and editing options of
the photo program.
Next, the students will receive story-starters. The students will
have to weave a short story. To illustrate, the students will have
to gather pictures using the internet and/or the digital camera;
after that they'll use the photo-finishing software to enhance and
edit their pictures.
