TechYES TLC - Technology Literacy Curriculum

Grades 6-9

NEW - TechYES Technology Literacy Curriculum (TechYES TLC) is a completely online curriculum with daily lesson plans and resources for middle school technology courses. In addition, online tools help students through the project process.

TechYES TLC helps middle schools create relevant, engaging technology classes where students complete projects as they learn the 21st century skills they need to succeed in school and future careers. This project-based curriculum is fully online, with customizable units and activities that teach students to use software and hardware as they complete fun and interesting projects. Activities are aligned to the ISTE NETS technology standards for students and, when combined with the TechYES Student Technology Literacy Certification, allows students to receive national certifications.

21st Century topics for 21st century students
TechYES TLC covers technology skills beyond most existing technology curriculum. Topics of interest to students, such as video production, music composition, 3D modeling, animation and more are explored.

Student and Teacher Online Support tools
TechYES TLC comes with access to student and teacher web portals for easy access to the lesson plans, activities, and resources. In addition, online project tracking tools allow students to plan and evaluate TechYES projects.

Flexible
TechYES TLC can be customized for different term lengths or schedules. Units can be selected based on student interest, match district technology course guidelines, or the availability of existing software and hardware. Extensions and activities for peer mentors are included.

Recommended software and hardware
Learning activities and projects are software, platform, and OS neutral--you do not need to purchase special hardware or software to use this curriculum. However, every TechYES TLC activity includes a recommendation of a software application selected by Generation YES a "best of breed" for middle school students and includes special activities and resources for them. Recommendations for free software are also available.

Sustainable - Permanent license, no renewal fees
Each site license for TechYES TLC is a permanent license. There are no renewal fees and all upgrades are included. There is no limit to the number of student logins and student data can be archived at the end of every year.

Reports
TechYES TLC online tools include access to customizable reports that track student project status and completion of the technology literacy certification.
