Time for a little (ahem) announcement - Generation YES has been working on something BIG!
We are proud to unveil the latest version of TechYES, our student technology literacy certification program. TechYES has always been about students showing technology literacy through projects — supported by trained peers and thoughtful resources.
The new TechYES system will allow students and teachers to plan and manage classroom projects more easily, communicate about their projects, assess projects against national standards, and includes a electronic portfolio so that the projects can be stored in the cloud. When teachers and students deem their projects worthy, they can publish them to a Showcase accessible to other TechYES students and teachers.
There is NOTHING out there that supports students and teachers doing real PBL in classrooms like the new TechYES system.
These advanced features in TechYES support true project-based learning and assessment in all academic areas:
- Technology literacy assessment and certification based on the ISTE NETS for students
- Common Core standards alignment
- Student and teacher resources - guides, curriculum, planning tools all online
- Curriculum that meets e-rate requirements for Internet safety and cyberbullying
- Extended technology curriculum for the 21st century project-based classroom
- Easy-to-use dashboards and messaging system
- Administrative tools and reports
- Peer mentoring and teacher assessment built-in
Generation YES has over a decade of experience creating online tools that support a project-based, technology-infused school, and this is the culmination of all that experience. It’s easy-to-use and supports authentic assessment the way authentic assessment is really done.

A HUGE thank you to all the programmers, project staff, artists, interns and web monkeys who made this possible. It’s been a year of hard work and a job well done.
Another even HUGE-er thank you to the teachers, students and tech specialists at our pilot schools who persevered through all the beta phases and construction dust — and gave us amazing feedback and suggestions.
And the biggest thank you of all to YOU out there (yes I’m looking at you…) You are the reason we all work hard every day — so that students and teachers have the tools and resources to help make that magic happen in classrooms.
