Learning Technology Grant Program Details

LTG Grant - Purpose of Program

The New York State Learning Technology Grant Program promotes collaboration between public school districts/BOCES and nonpublic schools of all denominations to:

  • Increase the use of learning technology to improve student academic performance in relation to the New York State learning standards, process and content strands, key ideas and performance indicators in grades pre-kindergarten through 12.
  • Provide high quality professional development focused on increasing a teacher's knowledge and skills in the use of learning technology.
  • Provide ongoing support for students to become technologically literate by 8th grade.

Meeting the Challenge with Generation YES Programs

Generation YES programs provide eligible New York districts with unique ways to meet the requirements of the LTG.

GenYES

  • Focus: Professional Development
  • Impact: School-wide
  • Direct Student Involvement: 15-50 students per year

GenYES (grades 4-12). There is no better way to give your teachers the support that they need to achieve technology professional development goals than with support from GenYES students. In addition, students benefit from the authentic, project-based technology learning in their GenYES class, and schools benefit from increased school-wide use of technology, as students are empowered to improve education with technology.

TechYES

TechYES

  • Focus: Student Technology Literacy
  • Impact: School-wide
  • Direct Student Involvement: 30 students up to entire student body

TechYES- Student Technology Literacy Certification for grades 6-9. The third goal of the LTG program is aimed at creating sustainable technology literacy programs in schools serving 8th graders. The TechYES program is the only project-based way to do this.
