Section I: Chapter 5: Looking Ahead
Summary: After Generation Y, empowered students need to find new venues for their enthusiasm, expertise, and technology skills.

Chapter Excerpt:

What happens to Gen Y graduates?
As graduates of a Gen www.Y course, students have learned valuable technology skills, become a vital part of a team that is changing the way instruction is delivered in their schools, become a member of the Generation www.Y national community, and used the expertise gained in the Gen Y class to help other schools and their community. These benefits will help students both during their school careers and throughout their lives. Graduates of this course are often participants in other Generation Y initiatives.

Students are expected to continue to work with all their teachers throughout their careers in the district on a more or less informal basis. Some students return to the Gen Y class to help the teacher the next term or semester and are commonly known as Gen Dids. These Gen Dids usually work on continuing to develop their projects with their Generation Y partner-teacher, taking on a new project usually related to school needs, or assisting the Generation Y teacher with the new class.

Gen Y graduates can serve on district committees where their poise, confidence, and expertise are noted. They can work with after-school programs and perform community service. Gen Y graduates can also participate in technology conferencesoften presenting the model. Gen Y students have been keynote speakers at large technology conferences throughout the nation.
