Project Title: The Art Web Site
Project Description: For my project my partner art teacher and I are going to build a Web site. On the Web site we are going to create a place for the art work of her students to be able to be viewed by the public. We are also going to give a full description of what the art course entails.

Objectives for Partner Teacher:

In doing this project my partner teacher will learn new skills on the design of a Web page and the use of Microsoft Publisher.

Indicators for Partner Teacher:

I will simply ask what she has learned and watch her use the program.

Results for Partner Teacher:

My partner teacher has been using Publisher very well. I know by watching her use the program that she has gained the knowledge of Microsoft Publisher. She has learned to use the program without a wizard and she will continue to use this in years to come.

Objectives for Partner Teacher's Class:
The Web site will give the upcoming students a view of what's to come in the year. It will demonstrate the art and give the artists credit for the work that they have done.
Indicators for Partner Teacher's Class:
To see if our Web site has accomplished its purpose we will put a hit counter on the site to count the number of people that have viewed the Web site.
Results for Partner Teacher's Class:
Lots of kids looked at my Web site. I do not know who looked at it and what they thought of it, but many have viewed. I hope some were upcoming art students.

Project Procedures

The process to creating The Art Website were:
1) I had to get together with my partner teacher and make a decision on what the Web design would look like.
2) Talking with my teacher about what to put into the page.
3) Creating each page with every detail about the step by step way to create a piece of art work.
4) Taking photos and scanning art work into the computer and posting them on my Web site.
5) Posting my Web site and revising if needed.

Project Context

Mrs. Benware's Art Studio class is a year-long introduction to the nature, function, and techniques of the visual arts in the past with emphasis on two dimensional drawing and painting. Area stressed include: techniques of drawing and painting, design, and composition, approaches from realism through the abstract to the non-objective.
My project will give up comming students a chance to see what's in store. There will be detailed descriptions on what is done throughout the entire year. It will also give anyone the privelege to view some excellent art work done by the students at South Glens Falls Senior High School.

Project Reflection
Positive Memories:
Taking the pictures with the digital camera was a lot of fun.
Negative Memories:
It was a large Web page and it took almost ten minutes to save, so it took a lot of my time to save my Web site.

Hello, Kylee, and welcome to Generation Y!
It sounds like you and your partner-teacher have come up with a great idea for a project. A Web site for Ms. Benware�s Art class will serve several important functions. Not only will it enable students at South Glens Falls HS to view the art work of their peers online, but parents and the community will have a better opportunity to see and appreciate student art work (assuming the page will be accessible from outside the school). Including a description of the art course and its units of study add that much more to the public�s ability to learn about school programs. Perhaps your work will serve as a model for other teachers who might be interested in establishing similar Web sites for their courses.

Creating a Web page or site is much more than simply writing HTML code or slapping content together with a Web publishing software package. Much of the work in Web development is artistic in nature, and requires an appreciate of design and style. So working with an art teacher should really be helpful in coming up with a page that is not only functional and useful, but pleasing to look at as well.

You mention using a �hit counter� as an indicator of how many people visit your site. Although that information can be interesting, it doesn�t really tell you anything about what those visitors thought of your site. Using a feedback form (sometimes called a Guestbook), in which visitors can actually respond to questions you ask them, can get a little tricky, but it�s something you might want to investigate. I�m not familiar with Microsoft Publisher, but most current versions of Web publishing software include features for creating forms on a Web site, as well as information on how the data gathered on such forms can be processed by the Web server.
